Wenger Targets Experience

Arsene Wenger has admitted he will sign one or two more players, citing experience as one of the main qualities.

As with every summer, Wenger has played his cards close to his chest and even though we all know this will happen, it doesn’t stop us getting frustrated.

So far Wenger has only signed Tomas Rosicky this off season, and while every Arsenal fan is extremely excited by the prospect of watching this very talented player play in the red and white of the Gunners, most have been a bit un-nerved by the amount of players going out to the amount coming in.

We have lost Sol Campbell, Robert Pirs, Dennis Bergkamp, Ryan Smith, Nicklas Bendtner, Seb Larsson, Fabrice Muamba and the inevitable departure of Ashley Cole mean we have a ratio of 8:1. Frustrating , yes.

Well the recent statement of the lord our Wenger should go some way to putting our minds at ease.

“I have a lot of faith in my young players,” he said. “You always feel you need experienced players but if you have too many, the younger players will not play. I try to find the right balance between the experienced players and the young players.’ Said Le Boss

“We still have some experienced players out at the moment ? Henry, Lehmann – but having said that I will still buy one ? with experience. The target is one or two. One certainly.”

His comments seem as though he definately has players in mind, but of course we won’t find out exactly who they are until a deal has been done. One thing Wenger did half give away that one of the players was more than likely to be defensive, and when the question was posed whether the player would play centre back or left back, he said simply and with a smile.

“It is a possibility,”

Adding fuel to both transfer fires of Ashley Cole & William Gallas.
