As with most of the media in England, rather than admit the glaringly obvious truth that England’s world cup team gave some of the worst performances out all all the competing teams, they prefered to look for a scape goat, and found one in Theo Walcott.
Even though Young Theo didn’t play a single minute in the tournament, it was easier for these horrible, lazy, so called journalists to blame Walcott for England’s short comings rather than actually do some work and analyis where the three lions went wrong.
For the first time Walcott has spoken about his inclusion and the effect the negative press had on him.
‘The upset caused to mum and dad has upset me, of course,’ Walcott said.
‘Because it’s not my fault I got picked. Mum and Dad ignore it just like I do – most of the time. But sometimes it gets hard for them.
‘I’m looking on it as an experience, and I’d rather have had it than not had it. I’d rather have been in Germany playing football than being on holiday.’
‘It was a brilliant experience: being with all the world-class players and seeing their routines, going to the stadiums, just being at the big event. That gave me confidence and hopefully, for me, there are a lot more big events to come.
‘I’m serious about my football and of course I wanted to play. But I didn’t expect it at all.
‘I’d watch games and want to be on the pitch, but I’m like that watching a game at home on telly.
However at only 17 years of age, he proved he’s already more of a man than these worthless pieces of cr*p who write for the red tops.
‘In Germany, okay, it didn’t happen, you’ve just got to move on.’
