The Lane Quieter Than ‘The Library’

An article in the Sun today has a league table of the loudest grounds in the league, and I’m pleased to say, the mighty Gunners are not bottom.

Indeed, not only are we not bottom, but we finished higher than the self proclaimed ‘uber fans’ of Tottenham.

All too often we have suffered jibes at the hands of the Spurs fans, listening to their taunts of ‘Highbury Library’ and ‘Your support is f***ing s**t’. And with our move to our new home it will only get louder.

I have noticed that Chelsea are one place above us by three decibels, but I am prepared to take grief from the two visiting Chelsea fans for a pop at the spuds, plus three decibels is about the volume of a good hearty fart, so you know what to do next time you are at the Grove.

Even with their drum, the Tottenham faithful have still finished with an average 9 less decibels a game, and with 22,000 extra gooners this season, I can only predict a further gap developing between the North London rivals, and not just in the football.

League table in decibels

Portsmouth: 97
Newcastle: 96
Liverpool: 96
Manchester Utd: 94
Sheffield Utd: 91
Bolton: 90
Aston Villa: 89
Blackburn: 89
Everton: 86
Reading: 84
Man City: 83
West Ham: 81
Chelsea: 80
Arsenal: 77
Fulham: 77
Wigan: 72
Watford: 71
Tottenham: 68
Middlesbrough: 67
Charlton: 65
