Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for Arsenal-linked attacker Donyell Malen, according to Sport Bild.
It is thought the German outfit are interested in making a move for the winger if they sell Jadon Sancho next summer. The Englishman has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, who refused to meet the side’s asking price for the young ace.
The Gunners are thought to be interested in making a move for the former academy player who departed north London for just £540k back in 2017.
Would Donyell Malen be a good signing for the club?
With the attack looking inconsistent and unbalanced, the signing of Malen could be a crucial one for the Emirates Stadium giants. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been featuring on the left-wing quite often this season, meanwhile, the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Willian have proven to be inconsistent in the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.
Malen could be the player to spark some life into the Gunners from the wide areas with his performances for PSV proving to be nothing short of sensational. Malen has notched up 12 goals and three assists in 18 games across all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit, showing his talents.
The £22.5m-rated man also proves to be far more effective at taking on opponents in the final third than Pepe and Willian, having completed 1.4 dribbles per game, more than the duo. Whilst you may be screaming out: ‘What about Reiss Nelson?’. It seems the former Manchester City coach doesn’t fancy the youngster, who is yet to start a league game this season.
The senior players are failing/out of position and the young gun isn’t fancied. Signing a winger should be one of the priorities for the club this season especially with goals hardly flowing up in the top-flight.
