Arsenal should be boosted for the derby against Spurs with the return of Ljungberg and Reyes to the starting lineup.

Ljungberg has been sidelined with a leg injury and Reyes suffered bruised ribs in the clash against Sparta Prague.

Following Persie’s performance against Sunderland, Wenger is enjoying the competition for places upfront:

‘There is a lot competition up front; we have Reyes and Ljungberg coming back but this type of performance showed that Robin is improving and physically he look very strong and mature.

‘It was one of the first times I have seen Robin van Persie back to his normal level or even stronger. I feel there is an adaptation for a young player when they come to England. It lasts six to eight months.

‘I was pleased with the way he used his body – that was the problem when he arrived here because it was not as physical in Holland.’
