It’s being reported today that both Arsenal and Manchester City have made contact with West Bromwich Albion over centre half Jonny Evans.

Both clubs were linked with a move for the Northern Ireland international over the summer window but dealings didn’t go anywhere substantive at the time with Albion rejecting every offer that came in and the BBC are now reporting that both clubs have made contact to get the ball rolling for January.

West Brom are said to have offered the former Manchester United man an extension, but speculation suggests he’s dismissed this for the moment at least. The 30 year old club skipper does have 18 months left on his existing contract though.

The BBC suggest that Arsene Wenger will be willing to offer £25million as he looks to shore up Arsenal but a potential advantage is Alan Pardew’s reported interest in Mathieu Debuchy who wants game time so could sweeten any deal.

Manchester City are obviously on the look out for cover for Vincent Kompany and there are some doubts over the future of Eliaquim Mangala.

This one could rumble on like it did over the summer.
