Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that striker Alex Iwobi will face a fine if video footage of him partying 36 hours ahead of the Nottingham Forest clash in the FA Cup is proven to be true.

Footage of Iwobi dancing at the party in the early hours of Saturday morning was uploaded to snapchat and caught the media’s attention and Iwobi did play the full game as Arsenal went out of the FA Cup at the third round stage.

Speaking to the BBC Wenger said it was ‘impossible’ and ‘unacceptable’ within 48 hours of a game, and although he was quick to point out that no drugs or drink were involved, the issue for him was simply being out.

‘First of all we have to be cautious with everything that is coming out. When you read what is reported it is like he has taken drugs. He was not involved in that at all. He has been out at a birthday party and how long he has stayed? That is important. After, I will decide what happens.’

Wenger went on to say.

‘You know that sometimes you want to prepare 100% but it is not always a guarantee you will be at your best. But that is what is requested from a top-level professional.’
