Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg looks set to leave Arsenal after West Ham United called a press confrence for 2PM, when they are expected to unveil the signing of Ljungberg.

As we reported yesterday, Wenger had seemigly assured fans and Freddie alike that the midfielder would be at Arsenal next term.

But as always with Wenger, you have to read between the lines. Wenger said: ‘Last season Freddie had tremendous problems with his hamstrings so we will see how it goes this season. He will be part of the squad.’

‘We will see how it goes.’ That’s the key part of his comments on Ljungberg.

During our discussion yesterday regarding Ljungberg’s future at Arsenal, many fans seemed to have made a U-Turn after the departure of Thierry Henry to Barcelona.

Vital Arsenal journalist Tim Stillman (aka Little Dutch) had this to say on him: ‘You guys know I’m not Freddie’s biggest thing (fan), but with Henry going this summer I really wonder if letting Freddie go is the best thing right now, just in terms of keeping a semblance of stability and experience in the squad.

I say keep him, but sell Reyes and use the lolly (money) to buy another winger.’

We’ll bring you more news when we have it.
