The agent of Mexican wonderkid Carlos Vela, has confirmed that the 18-year-old will spend a second season on loan in Spain.

Arsenal signed the youngster in 2006 after an impressive Under-17 World Cup performance from the striker, a tournament he helped Mexico win.

He was due to spend last season with Celta Vigo in La Liga, but the La Liga outfit had a full quota of non-EU players, meaning he had to play elsewhere. Salamanca were that club. Vela had a great start to the season, but a combination of fatigue and injuries meant that he was less impressive in the second half of the season.

However, he is still regarded as one of the brightest prospects in football, and will now get a taste of first team football in one of Europes finest leagues.

His agent, Eduardo Hernandez confirmed that the Whizkid will spend at least one, maybe two seasons with Spanish club Osasuna.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Hernandez said: ‘It is a fact, the player goes away to Osasuna

‘The negotiation has been closed for a loan for a year and with the possibility that it is extended to two, but an option to buy has not been contemplated.

‘For Arsenal, it interests them that he plays regularly and he will do that in Osasuna.

‘Vela is very happy, it is incredible what he has done. At 17 years, he played in the second division and at 18 in the first with Osasuna.’
