‘The worst I have seen’: Stan Collymore lays into Arsenal ace’s ‘indifference’ versus Villa

|

Stan Collymore has hit out at Alexandre Lacazette claiming his performance against Aston Villa was one of the worst he has seen in a long time.

The Frenchman was just one of a number of poor performers as the Gunners were thrashed 3-0 by the Villains at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s clear the former Liverpool man wasn’t left too impressed with the former Lyon man as he labelled the 29-year-old an ‘indifference’.

He said: “Alexandre Lacazette’s performance against Aston Villa was the worst I have seen from a Premier League striker for some time.”

“Everybody plays poorly, but what I saw from the Frenchman was an indifference, a lack of working for his team and a lack of doing the basics right, which should worry Arsenal fans.” (via Daily Mirror)

Who should start Arsenal's next Premier League game?

Eddie Nketiah

Alexandre Lacazetter

It’s hard to argue with the Premier League legend especially when you analyse Lacazette’s performance.

In a graphic widely shared on Twitter, the number nine was seen playing in a deeper average position than defensive midfielder Thomas Partey. He provided the Gunners with no focal point in attack, having no shots on target, playing no key passes and completing no dribbles as Emiliano Martinez was rarely threatened.

However, the most frustrating part of the France international’s outing was his potency in front of goal, or lack of, as he managed to head the ball over the bar, unmarked, from a mere six yards out.

It’s hard enough to win games in what is proving to be an extremely competitive and unpredictable Premier League season. However, attempting to emerge victorious whilst the focal point of your attack is performing poorly is near impossible.

This could open the door for young striker Eddie Nketiah, who is waiting, in the wings for any opportunity to displace the experienced performer.

Arsenal fans, do you think Lacazette should be replaced with Nketiah? Let us know your thoughts!
