The Title Race Is Back On

After a well deserved victory over Charlton, the title race is back on for the Gunners.

I won’t give you a match report as Mr Stillman will bring that to you shortly, what I am here to discuss is Arsenal’s title credentials.

A couple of games into the season, everyone had written off Arsenal’s title challenge, rather foolishly thinking we couldn’t win enough games with the other challengers dropping points enough for us to get back in it. Fools.

The people making these remarks have watched football for years, they are probably as much a football fan as we are, yet they sit on the fence and dare not predict against the obvious result, which as we all know is never the case in football.

Indeed I have had a Chelski fan or two baiting on this very site, asking me if the ‘7’ in the handle ‘Rocky7’ had anything to do with the 7 points we trailed the Blues by at the time. Well only a few weeks down the line and the boys from the Bridge are looking over their shoulders at a red and white steam train which is positively rip-roaring up the table.

After that fantastic victory over Man USA at the ‘theatre of dreams’, we took three points from Sheffield United at the ‘theatre of reality’ to propell us right back up into the thick of things.

A draw for Man Utd against Reading and a week later one for Chelsea against an ever improving Aston Villa see’s us only 5 points behind Chelsea with a game in hand, and with the Gunners easily playing the best football of any team in the Premiership, would you bet against them winning the league?

I wouldn’t.
