The Rumour Mill

Well the January transfer window has just 6 days left to go and as promised, Arsene Wenger hasn`t signed anyone. But they say a week is a long time in football so there is still time for an arrival or 2.

There are plenty of rumours doing the rounds (for a change) so let`s look at some of the rumours.

Ryan Babel is the latest player to be linked with Arsenal. The Ajax attacker started making a name for himself about 3 years ago and has slowly but surely become one of the hottest young talents in Europe. He has admitted that he visited Arsenal earlier in January but he insists that it was as a fan and denied meeting with any Arsenal officials. Rumours suggest a deal could be done for Babel to move to Arsenal in the summer for a fee of £7-£10M.

Gareth Bale is another player constantly linked with Arsenal in recent weeks. The 17-year-old left-back has shot onto the scene this season with a string of fantastic free kicks for Southampton as well as a series of solid defensive displays. Ladbrokes have slashed the odds of him signing for Arsenal.

They were offering 20-1 but since they found out he is very good friends with Theo Walcott and a Gooner his odds have been slashed. He`s believed to be valued at about £10Million by his employers.

Martin Caceres is apparently being targted by Arsene Wenger. Caceres, 19 has been watched by Arsene Wenger`s scouts this season.

He has put in some solid performances for his under-20 national side as well as his club – Defensor Montevideo. Juventus and AC Milan have also shown an interest in him.

Seb Larrson is on his way to Brum for £500,000 apparently. The Swede has been on loan at Birmingham since the start of the season and Steve Bruce wants to make the move permanent.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on the deal too after the youngster failed to impress with the small opportunities he`s been given in an Arsenal shirt.

Aliadiere is wanted by several clubs. Boro, Reading, Monaco and PSG are all interested in him. Arsene Wenger might be willing to let the striker go after admitting he can`t give him the first team chances he deserves. A fee in the region of £4Million is thought to be enough to secure his signature.
