Defender Shkodran Mustafi has now been ruled out of Arsenal’s tie this weekend with Watford after picking up a hamstring injury whilst on duty for Germany.

The centre half was substituted in the 36 minute of Germany’s victory over Azerbaijan and he was assessed by Arsenal’s medical staff on Monday.

With five appearances for Arsene Wenger so far, it’s hoped it’s not a severe injury but German gaffer Joachim Loew was concerned that he may have torn a ligament immediately post game.

Sky Sports have him quoted as saying.

‘It doesn’t look good, it looks like he had torn a ligament. We’re waiting for a full diagnosis, but it looks like he will be out for a while.’

Germany are now waiting on an update from Arsenal as it pertains to the November international break.
