A large quantity of Arsenal’s world cuppers returned to action for the Gunners tonight and whipped the Austraian side by eight goals to one.

Arsenal were never going to lose the game after van Persie was played through and cheekily rounded the keeper and slotted home after 6 minutes.

It was only another 9 minutes before the back of Schwadorf net rippled again after Johan Djourou headed home from a sweetly delivered Reyes corner.

The third goal came from a pass threaded through the eye of a needle by the young Dutch striker that enable Adebayor to slot home in a style that Thierry Henry himself would have been proud of.

Adebayor scored again with the last kick of the half after Kolo Toure nodded against the post from a Reyes free kick, Ade was there in typical poacher fashion to stab the ball home.

Half time saw wholesale changes from Arsene Wenger, giving a lot of the younger players chance to stretch their legs.

However, it was the more senior (thats a laugh at 22 years of age) Robin van Persie who struck first in the second half with a 20 yards screamer that the keeper was unable to tip round the post.

Alex Song was once again one of the more impressive players of the second half, commanding play, tackling back and distributing well. He looks a dead cert to feature during the coming season.

Arsenal were awarded a free kick on the edge of Schwadorf’s area, and with van Persie in search of his hat-rick, Kolo Toure had to make sure he scored, which he did with aid of a massive deflection off the wall.

Eleven minutes later saw a neat interchange of passing on the edge of the box between Song & Hleb which left Bendtner with the easiest of finishes.

The last Arsenal goal of the night was created by Nicklas Bendtner after he skinned the Schwadorf rightback and cut the ball back for Hleb to smash in from 12 yards.

Ideally Arsene Wenger have liked to have kept a clean sheet but sloppy defending allowed some dude called Labaska to find the net with four minutes to go.

Not the greatest of opposition, but as someone once said ‘you can only beat whats put infront of you’

And that we did.
