Fiszman- ‘No intention of Selling’

It seems that the Arsenal PR machine has well and truly got it’s sticky cogs oiled, and since they began grinding into motion last week, they’re not ‘arf getting through some rpm at the moment.

In a statement released today on Arsenal.com, Danny Fiszman has reiterated his commitment to the Arsenal cause, and confirmed once again that he has no intention of parting with his shares.

The statement from Danny Fiszman read thus:

“Over the past few months there has been much ill-informed speculation about my shareholding in Arsenal. I publicly stated my position back in April and to eradicate any uncertainty supporters may have, I would like reiterate exactly where my position is again.

“I have been a member of the Board for 15 years now. The Club has experienced many successes both on and off the pitch in that time and being part of the Arsenal family is something that is not only in my mind but also in my heart. I, together with the rest of the Board take great pride in the fact that Emirates Stadium is our home and great pleasure in the exciting, entertaining football that the team plays.

“The Board is a strong unit; we are the custodians of this Club. In April we entered into an agreement not to dispose of our interests for at least one year with the intention retaining our interests thereafter. In short, I have no intention of selling my shares in Arsenal for the foreseeable future. There are exciting times ahead with the team showing so much promise, we are energised by what the future holds. I hope now that my position is absolutely clear.”

So there you have it. A welcome clarification from Arsenal’s major shareholder that there will be no trading of his shares for the foreseeable future’, which however long that may be, means that there shall be no takeover at Arsenal this coming season.

This is a piece of reading that, whilst i can’t speak for other gooners, I find very comforting. Whether you are in favour of a takeover or not, hopefully we can all put the uncertainty of a potential Kroenke takeover to bed, tuck it in, read it a bedtime story and turn out the lights before closing the door, and now get back to concentrating on the matters which we SHOULD be concentrating on – football.

So fingers crossed, we can all get back to debating how long Arsene’s next contract will be for, what winger Arsene may sign, and how many goals over 20 RVP will notch up this season, and which of our young players will be ‘young player of the year’ come may.
