Eduardo Da Silva, Arsenal’s new bright striking hope, is ‘ready to explode’, so feels Arsene Wenger, TEAMtalk reports.

In his fledgling Arsenal career so far, Eduardo has already displayed excellent movement and awareness of his teammates, deftness of touch and a canny knack with the ball.

The goal he scored against Sparta Prague in the CL qualifier also gets better each time you see it, with the way he twists his body and strikes the ball coming across his torso, diverting it into the net, no mean feat as I testify, having performed some truly majestic air-kicks in my time as a truly crap footballer.

Wenger certainly thinks that there is a storm brewing in the form of the Crozilian, saying, ‘Slaven Bilic (Croatia coach) told me that in his first two or three games for the national team Eduardo was a bit inhibited but then he suddenly exploded,’ said Wenger.

‘Like every striker who comes in he feels he has to score goals. You saw him play on the left against Sparta and he was very lively. He made one goal and scored one himself.

‘For me Eduardo is a fantastic player.’

Next up for the Arsenal, the annual running of the gauntlet at the lane… what price a first league goal for Eduardo?

  • I hope he does score against the Spuds. I also hope our boys return safely from what is becoming increasingly irrelevant National duty. I know it’s a “MAJOR” tournament, but I really wish it wasn’t on right now. I’ll watch and support England of course, and follow how Cesc, Rosicky et al get on during the international break, but I
wish they didn’t have to go.

  • He will come on as a sub…anything can happen! He looks a bit lightweight yet me think but it will come with matches…I`m almost more excited about Havard Nordtveidt! He have to be close to the first team by the way…we have Kolo and Gilberto..and???Nordtveidt has impressed a lot in only a few months and only turned 17,he plays like a 25 year old and is rated the best central defender his age, very calm, plays the ball!A bit like Agger in style(better..)

  • cant wait for eduardo to explode into a goal machine. if he does, it would be a testament to the keen eye for a bargain on the part of AW. certainly would embarrass the likes of jol, rafa and co.

  • No, let’s have Hleb, Tomas and Ed score one each in a 3-0 drubbing of the Scum. Sort of a slavic thing happening down the lane!

  • Sounds like a good idea Darin. We can also go for a Latin theme – 3 goals from Cesc, Clichy (first goal for Arsenal!) or Gallas or Sagna (if they can make it back) or Diaby or Flamini or even debutant Diarra, and Gilberto or Denilson or Eduardo. Or an African theme – Ade, Kolo and Eboue (expected to come back on 15 Sep)?

  • So far he has looked good, but these are early days for him. Right now, I am more concerned about Ade and RVP clicking and I feel they will start against the Spuds. And after these 3, we still have Bendtner waiting. Dudu had a good game against Sparta, and I wouldnt mind him being limited to a few sub appearances for now. But if Wenger says he will explode, then heck, who’s to argue with the great man :).

  • You know Le Boss seldom piles praises on his new players and wants to avoid putting too much pressure on the guy, e.g. on Walcott he’s only been saying “talented kid, only 18, give him time”. Over the past year I’ve only seen him give big praises to two players who’s played little/no part in our games so far, as he’s far too aware of what these high expectations can do to a player. One is Eduardo, the other is Carlos Vela. Fingers and toes and everything crossed. 🙂

  • do you reckon that da silva has the potential to replace henry then, or does henry even need replacing. not by the looks of things so far. as for goals vs spuds, i vividly recall a wonderful gallas strike in the 90th min to win it for us, so who knows

  • BTW Louisa, Barca’s next La Liga game is away against Osasuna featuring our own Carlos Vela, who’ll be coming up against TH14 and his new chums. It’s on 16th Sept. and I’m pretty sure it’s live on SS1/2.

  • I love him! Is it me or only me who thinks the little fella looks like “Prince” not Harry or Charles but the little purple midget from the eighties?

  • Yes, Savage is quality – that’s why he regularly attracts the attention or Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan… keep taking the tablets, my good man. »»Arsene Knows««

  • what i like bout him is he doesn’t give up, always chase for the ball, even the ball is far from him and even he is little, defender finding a hard time to challenge him. His touch remind me of whiner reyes, and he does look like the singer “prince”.i remind one time he tried to score from the middle of the field, it was a good try.RvP shouldn’t be partner with adebayor, because rvp doesn’t have the patience to adebayor slow reaction. i think wenger should make walcott as a leading strike and rvp as the shadow striker.they both make a great combination.that’s what i think.

  • Ed Da Silva and Savage, all in the same thread! How dare Savage’s name be even mentioned in such lofty company. Just wrecked a perfectly good discussion for mine. Roll on the Scum I say. What are we up to Koro, nine-nil I think.
