Gael Clichy is raring to go after suffering a whole host of injuries that has kept him out for such a long time.

Clichy has always been widely considered an excellent player, who unfortunately was stuck behind the best left back in the world, and now we have rid ourselves of that particular cancer, Clichy has spied his chance.

‘Ashley is a friend and I am really happy for him if he is happy at Chelsea,’ Clichy said.

‘He is a great player and it is a shame for the club to lose a player like this. Of course, though, I have to be realistic and it is a big opportunity for me.’

‘Now I am fit and am waiting for the boss to give me a chance. I will not let him down. William Gallas can play on the left and Mathieu Flamini also last season played quite well. We have got Justin Hoyte too and Armand Traore.’

‘We have to work together and be as good as possible for the team – but of course I think the boss knows I am in a good position to play on the left, so I am just going to work hard and try my best to make this position my own.’

It’s not only his abilities that impress me, but his attitude also. Clichy could have walked into a lot of other teams round Europe, but chose to stay with us.

Lets hope he can become even better than Ashley Bastard Cole.
