Having completing his £35m move to Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas was quick to thank his former Arsenal colleagues for the support they’d given him over the past eight years.

The former Gunners skipper, who moved to North London from Barca as a 16-year old, insisted for the North Londoners to succeed, they must back Arsene Wenger and allow him to rebuild the side.

The Spanish international also paid tribute to Arsenal’s fans, apologising for his silence over recent months, but insists he gave his all during his time there.

One regret remains however – in his seven years in the first team, he has just one FA Cup to show for it, having won Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup at international level.
