Arsenal Midfielder Set For England Recall?

|

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he feels confident that Jack Wilshere could return to the England squad when Gareth Southgate makes his selection.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to preview Thursday’s Europa League clash against AC Milan at the Emirates Stadium, the topic of Jack Wilshere came up and the state of play with his contract expiring this summer.

Admitting that nothing had changed yet on the contract front, he made his feelings clear on what he wanted to happen.

‘I don`t know, but Jack will be free at the end of the season. We make a proposal to him, I want him to stay and my desire is to see him linked to the club for the future. I hope he will do it.’

With the upcoming international break and the impending release of Gareth Southgate’s squad for this window, Wenger was asked whether he felt Wilshere was ready for the international stage once more and the player had the Frenchman’s backing.

‘Yes, I wish he is in the England squad. The vibes I get are positive. I believe he has a good chance to be in there, but we have to leave that to Gareth Southgate. I have enough to do with my job.’
