The predicted exodus at Arsenal football club will not come to pass, it seems, after Cesc Fabregas became the latest Gooner to show commitment to the cause.

Mass hysteria from the media and panic-stricken gooners alike compounded an already worrying situation after the departure of record goal scorer Thierry Henry. Indeed the former took great delight in informing the world of the collapse of Wenger’s empire after the Barca striker’s (how weird does that sound?) post-Arsenal comments were either misinterpreted or mischievously jiggled around to suit their agenda.

According to more than a few of the redtops and even a couple of the broadsheets, Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas would quickly follow suit and head for the Ashburton door. The more astute amongst us instantly recognised this as being more fabricated than a pair of Farrah’s slacks, we know Wenger honors his contracts and he will be with us for another season at least.

The Cesc Fabregas situation however did prove to be a little more perplexing due numerous comments made by the little midfield maestro stating he’d always wanted to play in Spain and would do so before the end of his career.

But after the players agent refuted transfer rumours the Spaniard himself committed his future to the Gunners in one swift sentence.

He told The Sun: ‘In 10 days I’ll be back training with Arsenal. My team. I’m staying in London.’
