Manuel Almunia has waited a hell of a long time for a chance in the first team, and he will do all he can to hold on to his spot.
Despite Arsene Wenger claiming Jens Lehmann was sidelined due to injury, after back to back blunders (the second of which being the only reason we don’t have a 100% start to the season) we’re all pretty sure AW dropped Lehmann to see what Almunia was capable of.
For me, Almunia has made a solid start to the season and his claims that the number one spot is his, appear to be valid.
Speaking with The Sun, he said, ‘Now I can really say I’m enjoying myself in London, I feel the No.1 spot is mine.
‘I have to grab on to it with all my strength so it doesn’t escape me. This is my moment and I don’t intend to let it go.’
