Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is now ‘likely’ to join Manchester United this January transfer window.

As everyone is well aware, the 29 year old is out of contract next summer and having seen a deal last deadline day break down with Manchester City, their unwillingness to match our £35million valuation means the long standing speculation in their direction is over.

Despite some rumblings of an interest from Chelsea, Manchester United are now in the driving seat and the BBC have reported that they understand personal terms have now been struck between the player and United, so all that’s required now is a final agreement between both clubs themselves.

‘I worked on transfers for 30 years so it is likely to happen, but at any moment it can break down.’

Wenger also confirmed that it was a ‘possibility’ that Henrikh Mkhitaryan would be part of any deal, given the speculation a few days back about a cash plus player swap arrangement.

‘I like the player. We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund. He appreciated the quality of our games. The wages would not be a problem.’

The BBC don’t believe that 28 year old Mkhitaryan has agreed terms, but it appears to be on the cards after Jose Mourinho left him out of the Stoke City game earlier in the week and commented that the decision wasn’t a tactical one.
