‘Zero, I think’: Guillem Balague doesn’t rate Arsenal’s chances of signing 22 y/o

|

Guillem Balague has claimed that Arsenal have no chance of signing Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.

The Norwegian joined the club during last month’s transfer window as Mikel Arteta looked to bolster his creative midfield options.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the famed journalist believes the youngster is needed at the Spanish giants so they can build a club around him.

Balague said: “Zero, I think. Real Madrid need to build a future based on the youngsters that they bought.”

Should Pepe start against Aston Villa?

Yes

No

If we’re going to trust all the news coming out of the so-called La Liga expert’s mouth than we might as well start trusting everything we read and hear. The journalist was one of the only reporters to claim that Odegaard preferred a move to Real Sociedad over the Gunners last month.

However, the exact opposite turned out to be true with the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano claiming that the 22-year-old chose Arsenal after being convinced by Mikel Arteta over the phone.

It’s safe to say given the news being reported by Balague, there is a strong chance Odegaard could still become a permanent fixture in the Arsenal side from next summer.

Arteta spoke of his appreciation of the Norway international when he first joined the club and even alluded to a permanent transfer in the way he spoke of it when questioned.

Given the reliability of Balague, I would take his claim about the Los Blancos man with a pinch of salt. There is still a chance the £36m-rated could join on a full-time basis come July.

In other news, the FA have confirmed one Arsenal player will miss the clash with Aston Villa.
