As Arsenal prepare to face Basel in the Champions League, meaning Swiss international Granit Xhaka returns to familiar surrounds, the midfielder has spoken about his Gunners spell to date.

He scored some cracking goals at the start of his Arsenal career didn’t he, goals we probably wouldn’t have expected but has been in and our of the side.

Recently Arsene Wenger admitted Xhaka had found it a little difficult to adapt to the Premier League, which is understandable as some can take longer than others. However, he was backed to be an Arsenal success.

Xhaka doesn’t have any doubts about his own ability and potential to improve saying he’s getting used to life in England where he’s happy and comfortable now.

He told

‘Actually, it’s normal when you come to a new club and country [that it takes time]. You need to get used to the language, the philosophy of the team, the squad, the coach. But I do feel very happy and comfortable here, and I know the potential I have. In football you just have to develop yourself.’

As Wenger and Xhaka have said you have to get used to your surroundings, which I think he is and this will see the Gunners witness the best from him in the months and years ahead.
