– Australia’s the place to be as Arsenal fan Neal Lohse wins Barclays Around the World in 90 Minutes competition –

The search is over. After weeks of gathering entries from thousands of fans worldwide, Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League, has named Australian Neal Lohse’s match-day experience as the best in the world.

Lohse, who became an avid Arsenal fan whilst living in London in the 1980’s, created a video entry that brings to life the passion and commitment of a Barclays Premier League fan based outside of the UK. The video is narrated by his young daughter, Maddy, who turns the family living room into ‘Lohse Stadium’ with football drawings and memorabilia to make her Dad’s match-day experience more authentic. Despite Barclays Premier League matches being shown at 2am local time, Neal and Maddy both stay up all night to watch the action.

The winning entry was chosen by the competition`s judging panel, which included Barclays Premier League legend Marcel Desailly, international voice of football Martin Tyler, and Vinit Chandra from Barclays. Lohse’s prize is a dream trip for two to watch the Gunners play live at the Emirates Stadium during the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League season.

Neal Lohse said: “We just couldn’t believe it when we heard that we’d won ‘Barclays Around the World in 90 Minutes’ competition. I dreamed of us going to watch a match at the Emirates Stadium when it was being built and it’s amazing how things work out. We can’t wait to fly over to watch Arsenal next season and I’d like to thank Barclays and the judges for this fabulous opportunity.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: “We’re proud to have so many fans all over the world supporting Arsenal Football Club, and we’re delighted that one of them has won Barclays Around the World in 90 Minutes competition. We are grateful for our fans’ passionate support, especially from as far away as Australia. We hope that our guests have a memorable trip to the Emirates Stadium.”

It was by no means an easy decision due to the fantastic array of entries that we received, but we all felt that Neal’s video really shows the lengths that a Barclays Premier League fan will go to follow their team. The competition has been a huge success, and once again shows the passion that fans from all over the world have for the Barclays Premier League.”

‘Barclays Around the World in 90 Minutes’ competition was launched to find the best match-day experience of English top-flight football anywhere in the world. The response was overwhelming as fans from as far afield as Ghana, Malaysia and Lithuania shared their own unique Barclays Premier League match-day rituals with photos, audio clips and videos.

25 entrants who narrowly missed out on the top prize all win a Barclays Premier League team shirt of their choice. The runners-up are:
