Jack Wilshere, presently bidding to return to full fitness having broken his leg during a loan spell at Bournemouth last season, could well leave Arsenal but West Ham have played down interest.

According to talkSPORT, West Ham were the ‘odds-on’ favourites to sign the midfielder but he’s not a player the Hammers as chasing.

West Ham chairman David Gold dismissed interest in Wilshere, 25, when asked about the potential chances of the England midfielder signing, when asked the question on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.

Gold told talkSPORT: ‘We are interested in all good players but we have to face the facts here – we have got good midfielders. We have got a good defence, we have got good midfielders, we have got good wingers. We need strikers and that is the key to everything for this season so we are focused first and foremost on bringing in two strikers.’

Considering, sorry Jack, West Ham have the injury-prone Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, a viewpoint openly expressed by Gold, they wouldn’t be in a hurry to add another like the Gunners midfielder.

Whilst Gold wouldn’t confirm or deny and interest in Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, reportedly players West Ham want at the London Stadium, it was ‘suggested they are exactly the type of forward players’ Slaven Bilic could look to sign.
