According to Sky Sports, West Brom approached Arsenal on Monday evening about a potential deal for Kieran Gibbs.

Gibbs’ long-term future is almost certain to be away from the Emirates Stadium, if the England left back doesn’t leave before the end of his contract he will when this deal concludes next summer.

Previously Gibbs had been valued at around £15m but interested clubs wouldn’t meet the asking price, which has been lowered by Arsenal but still not enough for West Brom to agree a fee.

‘Sky Sports News HQ has been told the Gunners want around £10m for the defender, but Albion are not prepared to pay that amount,’ reports Sky.

West Brom are currently in Hong Kong for the Asia Trophy so any deal probably wouldn’t be done before Tony Pulis’ side concluded their participation in that pre-season tournament, well, not for Gibbs, 27, to feature.

A parting will come sooner or later, Gibbs is bound to know he faces a third season running of limited involvement at the Emirates so, having made his debut a decade ago during the 2007-08 season, it would be in his best interests to leave now really.

The Gunners and West Brom agreeing a fee is the first obstacle the next, another possible sticking point, could be his personal terms?
