Arsene Wenger says there is no temptation for him to select his ‘stars` for the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

Wenger has maintained all the way through the competition that he would stick with his policy of playing a combination of youngsters, fringe players with a couple of first team players chucked in.

Despite that, it was thought by many that he would select the likes of Henry and William Gallas. But Wenger has again refuted claims that he will play anyone who has not taken part in the competition this season.

Wenger said: ‘People asked me what would be the team three weeks before the game but when you play every three days it is very difficult to say that Henry would not play because Adebayor, Aliadiere and Baptista could be out. You have to put out 11 players who have a chance to win the game.

“But Aliadiere, Adebayor, Baptista and the others are OK so I had not the slightest temptation [to play the stars].

“I have full confidence in these players and I like to do what I say.”
