More after match reaction from manager Arsene Wenger, Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin following the three nil victory over Chelsea at the weekend.

Beginning with Wenger, yet another after match interview from his press conference as carried by the Official Site has him saying that overcoming Chelsea, especially in that manner and with our recent curse against them, should definitely give the player ‘the taste to want more’ in the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.

‘I`m a very happy man because we produced the quality of football we want to produce. If I had told you that before the game, we would all have signed up. That`s why we all love the game – because it can give you this kind of spectacle that you want to see. That should give us the taste to want more and hopefully it will.’

‘The intensity to our display is a little bit linked with belief. When you have a doubt in your mind, you`re hesitant and that`s what I could feel against Southampton. We redressed it well against Hull, at Nottingham Forest and again here.’

Wenger also repeated his belief that Theo Walcott on that form, is set for a big season this year.

‘He`s committed, he does his job offensively and defensively and he`s still dangerous. I like what he`s doing at the moment. He`s an intelligent player with a strong character. I told you before the season started that you would see a different Walcott this year.’

As for Walcott, he was delighted with the overall performance from everybody.

‘I`m still getting my breath back! We worked really hard, we worked hard in the week and we obviously know what`s happened in the past. But the past is the past, it`s all about now and this team is bright and young and has got a lot more experience in these games now. People would expect us to go on and get four or five but that`s not the case. You saw on the kick-off this morning, it`s always easy to actually get 11 men behind the ball and they`ve got to come for us then. And then it plays into our hands. But the guys did well today, really well done.’

‘When we played Man United at home last year it was fantastic, but I think it`s been quietly coming actually, to be honest with you. We`ve been quietly doing our business and like I said, everyone is just working for each other now. We`ve got some great individuals but when you get those individual stats you play as a team as well, everyone is focused and you could see that the 11 men wanted to win this more than the other team today and thankfully we did that.’

Given the magnitude of the result given results against Chelsea in recent times, Walcott was obviously asked if this was a statement from Arsenal, and whilst hopeful, his focus was on just doing what we had been doing and improving further and then seeing where it takes us.

‘You know what, we`ve been here before. I`ve had so much experience in the years, but like I say, we`re not doing ourselves any harm. We just want to keep on doing our business, that`s all we want to do. We want to try and improve and see what the negatives were in the game, I`m sure there`ll be a few. We always wanted to keep a clean sheet, if we keep clean sheets we`re going to win games because we can score goals up front, so you`ve got to give credit to everyone today.’

He also scored on his 350th appearance.

‘It was a great move and I`d like to get 10 more of those a season. They`re nice, but I was in the right place at the right time and I was pleased with that. But like I say, I`m more pleased with the three points and we`ve obviously got a big game on Wednesday now. We`ve got to recover well, there`s games coming thick and fast now and that`s why I`m leaning against this wall right now!’

He ended by saying.

‘Yeah, watching the PSG game on the side when I didn`t travel, you could sense in that game particularly that it was a tough game for us but we got through it and we got a very good point. You could just see the experience and the years in the Champions League, hopefully it`s bedding in to this team now. In years gone by we know how it`s been with Chelsea and the most important thing is today we kept 11 men on the pitch. It was important for everyone to be very disciplined and we were today. Our two centre backs were fantastic with Costa today, really good.’

Ending the interview run with Bellerin, he opened with praise for Walcott.

‘Sometimes when you`re getting games regularly that helps a player`s confidence as well. We`ve been playing together in the right side for the last few weeks and it`s a partnership that we both enjoy. We understand each other a lot and I think that shows on the pitch. It`s great fun to play with him. I think you can see that he`s been doing it for the past month and I`m glad to see him back to his best.’

For the win itself.

‘We need to go game-by-game like we`ve always been doing, for us it`s a great confidence boost because Chelsea is always a difficult rival and is a team that puts things really hard so to get this victory and to get the three points is something that is a good boost of confidence.’

He was also asked about his last ditch tackle on Pedro in the game, and he explained.

‘It was at the end of the game, so I was a bit tired. But he`s a pretty quick player but I don`t know, I think you always need to try and help the team – it doesn`t matter how tired you are and this time it paid off.’
