Arsene Wenger hinted that he is close to signing a new contract after claiming he needs to show how he believes in his young charges by committing himself to the club.

Wenger has a little under 12 months left on is existing deal, and the Arsenal board are hoping to secure the signature of the man widely considered as the greatest manager in Arsenal history, for another period.

‘I have to show as well how much I believe in this team by showing my commitment, my situation will be sorted out very soon.’ said Wenger.

‘I believe my commitment to the club has nothing do with the speculation of how the season would go, because that would be unfair.

‘If I do not do well, and one day the club is not happy with me I can completely understand that I do not stay here any more. But I believe we will do well.’


Even though Wenger has, and continues to come under close scrutiny due to lack of transfers this summer, this is great news for the club. No manager in world football is more suited for the job than the French pensioner.
