Arsene Wenger has given what seems like an ultimatum to Robert Pires over his new contract.
Wenger has always had a policy of no one over 30 gets more than a one year contract extention.
Pires however, is adamant he wants two, which has lead to a stalemate in contract talks, although Wenger seems certain to stand by his beliefs.
Wenger said, ?It is not inevitable he will leave but I remain faithful to our policy. It is up to him.?
Pires’ current deal expires in the summer, meaning he will be able to leave on a free transfer should the pair not be able to come to an arrangement.
Pires may not like the offer, but if he wishes to remain a Gooner, then one year is what he will get.
