With West Bromwich Albion now behind us, Arsenal have played their last game of 2016 with us moving towards the New Year’s Day encounter against Crystal Palace.

With a recent wobble in games against Manchester City and Everton, West Brom on Boxing Day saw us get back to winning ways and manager Arsene Wenger is obviously hoping a new unbeaten run starts so we continue our form so far in the first half of the year – looking to close the gap at the top of the table.

Reflecting on the way the fans stuck with the side through a difficult match against Tony Pulis’ side, speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference he thanked the fans for their support so far this season and he was looking for the Emirates and travelling crowd to make the side ‘even stronger’ in the 2017 portion of the season.

‘I feel our fans today were very good. I would like to thank them because it can be frustrating for them as well in a game like that when you don`t manage to score, so I hope they can keep that kind of support behind the team for 2017 and this year as well. The team is focused, motivated and united. So if you can add the fans to that, we will be even stronger.’

With the players hopefully boosted by the victory on Boxing Day, it could be an interesting encounter with Palace now having switched Alan Pardew for Sam Allardyce but with that two game hiccup Manchester City and Liverpool certainly aren’t out of reach but we need a few back to back wins now to close that gap on Chelsea and take advantage of any of their slip ups.
