Lucas Perez was handed his second start for Arsenal on Tuesday since his arrival from Deportivo La Coruna. This saw him score twice against Nottingham Forest and set up another in the League Cup win.

After his brace he then set up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score his late goal and cap the four-nil win at the City Ground to book a place in the fourth round, which of course is drawn tonight.

Perez’s impact has pleased Arsene Wenger, however he’s told Sky Sports given the quality and ability he had shown with Deportivo he expected this anyway.

‘He has shown what I expected from him that he works hard for the team, he can score goals but that he can be a team player, especially for our fourth goal when he played in Chamberlain. He played a big part in that. I’m very pleased with the effort that he put in and the quality he has shown.’

La Liga is completely different to the English game but if he can replicate his goals return he showed in Spain last season (when he scored 18) with his hard working nature helping to provide them for others we’ll not go far wrong will we!
