Petr Cech’s mistake against former club Chelsea ended a miserable week that has led to speculation the keeper will be dropped against Hull. It’s also seen reports of interest in Manchester City’s Joe Hart.

Arsenal have been linked with summer bid for Torino loanee Hart with him poised to leave City as he doesn’t have a future at the Etihad Stadium.

The Daily Mail claims concerns about Cech – who would be welcome to remain as no.2 – have seen Hart lined up as his replacement. A £15m tug-of-war between Arsenal and Liverpool is set to take place.

However, Arsene Wenger has backed Cech following his mistake for Chelsea’s third at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.

The Arsenal boss also said he hadn’t decided his team yet amidst the rumour the 34 year old would be dropped. But backed Cech for the way he conducts himself and the form show this season.

Speaking in his news conference Wenger was quoted by as saying.

‘My team is not picked for Saturday yet, so I have to leave my choice open until then. That is not at stake in my thinking at the moment. Petr Cech is a guy who prepares well, is serious, and wants to do well. He was at fault for the third goal [at Chelsea] but overall I believe he has had a good season.’

As regards to the reported interest in Hart at the end of the season Wenger said he was happy with the three world class keepers at Arsenal.

Which seemingly dismissed any Arsenal interest in the England international with Wenger adding.

‘I have three world-class goalkeepers and I am very happy with the three I have.’
