Arsenal’s (previously successful) tour of China ended in disappointing fashion when the Gunners were thrashed by Premier League champions, obviously London rivals, Chelsea.

The Chelsea defeat offered something of a wakeup call, along with a reminder Arsenal have PLENTY of work to do, but much the talk since has surrounded Alexis Sanchez and a potential transfer to Paris Saint Germain.

Arsene Wenger, when carrying out his media duties before the squad left China, had to deliver yet another Alexis update.

When asked if he thought the Chilean was indeed in Paris discussing a switch to the Ligue 1 side, Wenger, quoted by the Official Website, said he didn’t think so.

He went on to say reporters need to write about someone so quickly move away from Alexis to Barcelona’s Neymar, when it was apparent the French club would have no joy for the Arsenal man, saying he didn’t think PSG would be able to sign both.

‘I read L`Equipe in the last three or four days. It has moved from Sanchez to Neymar. Today they speak about Neymar, three days ago they speak about Alexis. They need as well, like you [reporters], subjects. They cannot get Sanchez so they go for Neymar.’

During the Arsenal tour a defiant Wenger was insistent Arsenal wouldn’t be selling Alexis during the summer transfer window.

Asked if that had changed, Wenger said: ‘No, my mind has been made up for a while now. I think I made it clear a few times.’

Wenger went on to say Arsenal ‘are in a strong financial situation’ so no one needs to go and will only go if the club want them too, which has seen some in talks but ‘we are not close’ to concluded deals to sell the likes of Kieran Gibbs.
