Arsene Wenger has named the 16 men (some of them are actually still just boys!) that will travel to Sh**e, I mean White Hart Lane for tonight’s League Cup Semi Final first leg agaisnt Spurs.

As I mentioned, there are 4 changes from the team that made Liverpool look like Livingston.

Philippe Senderos, Alexander Hleb, Mathieu Flamini and Emmanuel Eboue come in for Johan Djourou (injured), Alex Song(international duty), Matthew Connolly and Henri Lansbury (suspended).

2. Abou Diaby
4. Francesc Fabregas
5. Kolo Toure
6. Philippe Senderos
9. Julio Baptista
13. Alexander Hleb
15. Denilson
16. Mathieu Flamini
21. Mart Poom
24. Manuel Almunia
27. Emmanuel Eboue
30. Jeremie Aliadiere
31. Justin Hoyte
32. Theo Walcott
43. Mark Randall
45. Armand Traore

Don’ forget to catch the match preview (coming soon) and Tim Stillman’s match report/rant/gloating that he was right about Song. 😛

  • Fair few internationals with Prem experience there – should be interesting. Four first team regulars added to the squad. I think it will represent a strong starting 11.

  • where is the excuse? Have you lot not been saying it dont matter if you lose cos the kids will be playing? Every word i said is absolutely true. Still, if we cant beat that side, which is still “under strength” I can’t see us ever beating you goons. I was just pointing out i think it is stronger than most people expected.

  • No merida and do we assume that if Hleb, cesc and flamini have travelled that they will play? i hope not all of them start. there is no need to risk the fitness of hleb and cesc for this game. have them as subs by all means, just in case they are needed.

  • The only inclusion that surprises me is Hleb. I felt we’d line up with Walcott on the right and Ali on the left, I guess this means Ali and the Beast upfront. Probably have Hoyte at left back as well.

  • look lads – Wenger obviously knows he had to bolster the squad a bit, you antagonistic lil ******* lol 🙂

  • Dude, chill out…it was a joke. Geez you Spuds are so uptight. Feeling the pressure? We aint, we’ll just enjoy the two fixtures and what will be will be!!!

  • I think Cesc will be on the bench. I expect the team to be Almunia; Eboue, Kolo, Senderos, Hoyte; Walcott, Denilson, Diaby, Hleb; Aliadiere, Baptista. Subs; Cesc, Flamini, Poom, Randall, Traore.

  • I think Cesc will start tonight, I even thought so before I saw the squad. I think Wenger really wants this this time around.

  • He might want it to a degree but if he really wanted it the first team would be playing. The defence is strong but then Arsene had no choice there as both Gallas & Djourou are injured & the likes of Connolly are just not ready for a game like this. I think Hleb will be on the bench but I am sure cesc will start. Wenger already said that Diaby, Baptista, Walcott & Aliadiere will play & you know that Toure, Hoyte, Traore, Senderos & Almunia will also start so thats 9 of the 11 anyway………………Jacky B, are you worried about the pace & skill of Walcott against either of your left backs?? I have seen both of them play & must say neither has ever impressed me at all, I really think thats where our best chance of exploiting the defence will come from!!

  • Cesc will probably start but i don’t see hleb starting i’d be thinking denilson or flamini who have already played on the left this year starting with walcott on the right. Maybe the midfield will even be; walcott, diaby, denilson, flamini, i’d say traore will start cos from the hype his giving it sounds like he’s already been told that

  • A draw will do me just fine then we can tear them apart at Ashburton Grove like the last time they visited us! (cough, cough 3-0 cough) Either way, we rally have nothing to lose, the only thing i will say is that aslong as the kids dont get a hiding (well, the sun does shine on a dogs arse once in a while) then alls good!

  • i like the fact that Cesc is playing, he will pull the strings in midfield.. althought LD you may be right here, jackyB calm down, its no good for your blood pressure at your age ! either way the first London league cup final, something to be proud of as a londoner ! no scouse or mancs !
