Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has basically confirmed Carl Jenkinson is free to join Crystal Palace with this potential transfer down to the England international to conclude.

The Evening Standard reports a deal – Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce had said ‘slow’ progress was been made – has been agreed with Palace that would see Jenkinson complete a permanent transfer to Selhurst Park.

Jenkinson is definitely behind Hector Bellerin with Gabriel Paulista also moving ahead of the 24 year old when it comes to first team selection so his chances will be limited going forward so an Arsenal exit would probably be for the best.

Wenger has dismissed any suggestion his proposed exit was being delayed owing to fitness concerns surrounding others and confirmed a deal was possible but hasn’t been yet been finalised.

However, he was insistent it was down to Jenkinson to find an agreement with Palace to complete a move. Wenger was quoted – by this Standard report – as saying.

‘It’s not necessarily linked with that [Hector Bellerin’s return to fitness]. Jenkinson to Palace is a possibility but it’s not finalised. It’s basically down to him to find an agreement [with Palace].’
