Rob Holding was not the only debutant last night as Granit Xhaka came off the bench for his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt.

After featuring predominantly for Switzerland in the Euros Granit is somewhat behind in his pre-season but unlike Holding, Xhaka is a player very much for the now and with a price tag of in access of £30M he`s expected to make a big impact on the season.

Xhaka appears to be a player who very rarely wastes the ball and his second half stats of 51 passes at a 94% success rate certainly seems to back that up. Wenger says he`s “adjusted well”.

“He did adjust very well. His passing was clean and technically he did well. Overall I believe his first game was encouraging.”

I`m really looking forward to seeing him in competitive action and reckon he`s going to be of huge importance to us early in the season as we start a tough couple of games without a few key players.
