Arsene Wenger has hailed his captain and leading goal scorer as the best in the business……..and rightly so.

Henry scored a very impressive brace against a lack lustre Aston Villa at Highbury on Saturday and prompted Arsene Wenger to reach for the very best superlatives.

‘If you asked me to buy a better player, I would have a big problem,’ beamed Wenger. ‘He is the best.’

‘When you have the best, why would you want to replace him? We do not know whether Thierry will stay or not.’

‘All I can say is that I want him to stay. The rest belongs to him, but I remain 100% confident that we will keep him.’

  • I tell you what is amazing, the fact the Henry still hasn’t won European or World player of the year, in fact no it’s not amazing, it’s bleedin scandalous.

  • He fully deserved to win it a year ago, him and ronaldinho are by far the greatest players in the world at the moment

  • Tell us something we don’t know Mr Wenger. I rate him above Ronaldinho; when the players around Henry click, there’s no stopping Arsenal.

  • The man is class. He picks the games he wants to be untouchable in. From just the last few weeks reads Real Madrid, Juventus and Aston Villa (all winners of the European Cup).

  • Henry is class. A fantastic player and ambassador of the game. A very good role model – the game could do with more like him.

  • Better than Ronaldinho? That’s a bit optimistic and patently ludicrous to anyone who doesn’t support Arsenal.
