Wenger Could ‘Panic Buy’

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he may have to dip into the Arsenal transfer kitty as the queue for the treatment table grows ever longer.

Julio Baptista is the latest player to suffer an injury, after he suffered a groin injury in the 1-1 draw with Bolton.

EIGHT players. William Gallas, Robin Van Persie, Freddie Ljungberg, Alex Hleb, Johan Djourou and Manu Eboue are the others.

The extent of Baptista`s injury is not yet known but Wenger is preparing for the worst and looking at the possibility of bringing in a player (or more than one).

After the draw with ‘The Orcs` Wenger was asked if he could be tempted into the transfer market.

Le Boss replied with: ‘That’s a good question but I cannot give you an answer. I don’t think so.

‘We have lost Van Persie and now we will see what Baptista has.

‘At the moment for us it is important not to lose too many players.

‘First of all you want your good players to be with you and we have important games coming up.

‘If we continue to lose players I will have to choose what we go for.

‘We will check Baptista now, he has a groin problem, but we hope it’s not too bad and he can play on Wednesday.’
