With the Gunners starring down the barrel of the gun against Boro on Saturday, the Ashburton faithful opened their vocal chords to try and cheer the boys on to victory.

We Gooners were in fine voice, and with the equaliser in the bag the red & white army pushed for the winner. The volume was awesome, I could almost feel that the winning goal was inevitable. But then, the PA decided to let the 60,000 strong crowd that there was a problem with the tube and delays were a certainty, & to cut down on crowd congestion there were keeping the bars open and showing the Spurs – Man Utd match on the big screens.

Fair do’s, a bit of public service, nowt wrong with that.

However, Mr PA took it upon himself to relay the same information another four times, at a deafening volume might I add, thus drowning out the support for the team from the fans and generally getting on everybodies tits.

Well, good old Arsene Wenger, as ever, knows what football is all about and has publically voiced his anger at this slight mark on the PA’s copy book.

‘I was very annoyed. I think he has to respect people and not talk too much.

‘There are people who want to watch a football game without being deflated and I feel it’s out of order.

‘I don’t know if it puts the players off but for people watching it’s disturbing.’

As the old saying goes, ‘Arsene Knows’.
