Arsene Wenger has looked to play down Alexis Sanchez’s frustration – ‘tantrum’, ‘meltdown’ call it what you will with these among the words used – following Arsenal’s draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

His reaction – and apparent unwillingness to speak to his teammates after the game – has been seen in some quarters as an increased likelihood the Chilean will leave Arsenal in the summer. Well, an increased certainty he wouldn’t sign a new contract anyway!

However, despite the fact he had exchanged words with Aaron Ramsey during the game at Dean Court and threw his gloves to the ground in disgust at full time Wegner is insistent this shouldn’t put any – extra at least – question marks besides his long-term future.

The boss wasn’t surprised by his reaction as Wenger believes the 28 year old was merely showing passion with Alexis as frustrated as everyone else by the draw – without such passion Arsenal wouldn’t have come back from three goals down.

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday he was quoted by the Metro as saying.

‘What is surprising? We want to win the games, if you don’t you’re not happy – that is normal. Without passion you do not come back when you are at 70 mins and 3-0 down. It is exceptional and you need a special response. We are all frustrated. Of course [Sanchez] is fine.’
