With confirmation yesterday evening of Theo Walcott’s switch from Arsenal to Everton, the player himself had a few brief words about his time at the club.

Having come in from Southampton back in 2006 as a fresh faced 16 year old, a transfer fee reported to be £20million and a three and a half year contract at Goodison Park brought his 12 year stay to an end.

Having been recognised by England during his time at the club under Arsene Wenger, he departs with 397 appearances for the club in total across all competitions and a return of 108 goals.

Speaking to the Official Site having signed his new deal with Everton, Walcott had a few words for the staff he’d worked with and of course the fans.

‘I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved at the club – manager, coaches, backroom staff, and all the many people at the club that have been part of my family for the past 12 years.’

He went on to add.

‘I would also like to thank all my team mates I have had the pleasure of playing alongside, but most importantly the fans for their incredible support. I feel sad to leave but also excited for a new challenge. I wish everyone at the club every success for the future.’
