Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has told Sky Sports that his advisors are still in talks with Arsenal over a new contract. Walcott has one year to go on his current deal having signed a four year agreement in 2009, but he and his agent broke off talks of an extension last summer. Much of this summer has been dominated by talk over captain Robin van Persie, who confirmed he has no intention of renewing.

As a result, the 22 year old’s situation hasn’t yielded as many column inches, but when pressed by reporters on the club’s summer tour of Asia, Walcott said, ‘It was always going to be (a case of) hold back until the end of the Euros. We continue to talk and we`ll just see where it goes.’

When asked about speculation linking him to other clubs, Theo replied, ‘Not at all because I didn`t have a clue about any other clubs, anything.

“I`m an honest guy. I like to get on with my job. I`ve got to work on pre-season, I don`t want any distractions.

“Like I say, my agent and the club will continue to talk and when there`s something to know I`ll get involved.”
