After many months of speculation Theo Walcott has finally put pen to paper and signed a new long term contract.

The Gunners have had a steady stream of their best players walking out the door over the last 3 or 4 years and for the longest time it seemed as though Theo would go the same way. Yet despite alleged interest from Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Liverpool (of whom Theo is a fan) the rapid Englishman chose to stay at Arsenal ?. With the help of a rather large financial package.

Walcott joins a whole host of young Gooners who have committed their long term futures to the club which leaves us, for the first time in a long time (and excluding Bacary Sagna) pretty much drama free for the next few years which can only be of benefit to the club.

Theo himself seemed pretty happy with the deal.

‘I am very happy to have signed a new contract here at Arsenal. Thanks to everyone for their continued support, especially the manager, everyone at the club and most importantly the fans. I have made it clear from the start that I wanted to stay at Arsenal so I am pleased we have agreed a deal that everyone is happy with. What`s important now is for the team to realise its potential and win trophies.”

Now Arsene, I believe you mentioned something about bringing in some players once Theo had signed a new deal?
