After scoring inside 2 minutes on his England under 21’s debut, coach Peter Taylor has called Theo back into the England under 21’s squad for the European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.

Walcott wrongly faced a barrage of criticism after being picked for England’s world cup squad this summer. The young forward didn’t get so much as a sniff of action and upon England’s exit of the tournament all the naysayers and doom and gloom merchants found their scapegoat in the unplayed Theo Walcott.

Well since his return from the World Cup Theo has played one game for the Under 21’s and scored one goal and made two substitue appearance’s in the space of four days and grabbed himself two assists.

Peter Taylor has warned Theo and his team mates they will face a stern test in Switzerland.

‘They have produced some very strong teams in recent years and we know we’ll have to play better than we did at Ipswich,’ he said.

‘However, there is every reason to be positive. We have a really good group of players and the spirit in the camp is first-class.

‘All the players now have a few games under their belt which gets rid of the early-season rustiness we suffered from against Moldova.’
