So your votes have been cast for the Vital Arsenal young player of the year and an article will be published shortly.

The result will not surprise anyone, however the award for Player of the Year will not be as cut and dry. We haven`t had an exceptional year by any stretch of the imagination but there have been bright points.

The signing of Petr Cech was a huge one and he won the golden glove in his first season. He brought a much need calm to the back four and despite a howler of a debut the big stopper was our most reliable performer this season.

Hector Bellerin continued his development to become the finest right back in the Premier League.
Despite having a wobbly patch after returning from injury Sanchez continued to be the hardest working player ever and grabbed us some vital goal, not least of which was the equaliser at WHL when we were down to ten men, enabling us to ultimately finish above Spurs.

Mesut Ozil equalled Thierry Henry`s all time PL assist record, he was actually let down by his team mates having created a record number of goal scoring chances (145) across all 5 top European leagues. He grabbed a not too shabby 8 goals to boot.

The much maligned Olivier Giroud has to be in with a shout of the vote despite people slated from pillar to post. He scored 24 goals for Arsenal this season at a rate of one every 117 minutes. He went through a dry spell but he still banged them in.

So those are your candidates. You’ll find the poll down the right hand side of the website.

Vote wisely.
