The Premier League season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.

Liverpool and Manchester United got things underway on Saturday with a goalless draw at Anfield, which opened the door to Manchester City – after stuffing Stoke 7-2 at the Etihad Stadium this allowed City to open a two point lead at the top and remaining five clear of third placed Tottenham, who saw off Bournemouth.

A first Premier League win under Roy Hodgson, in fact of the season, came for Crystal Palace when they stunned London rivals Chelsea at Selhurst Park.

Another all-London tie saw Watford come from behind to beat Arsenal – victory took the Hornets up to fourth.

Sunday saw both games end in draws, Everton salvaged a point at Brighton whereas Southampton twice came from behind to rescue a point against Newcastle.
