The Europa League season continued with the latest round of games played in midweek.

Arsenal are now in a strong position, admittedly in a competition they would have preferred not to be in, as the Gunners made it two from two with a win – from a goal filled game – against BATE Borisov.

Having survived a late scare, Italian giants AC Milan edged out Rijeka in a five goal thriller in Milan to maintain their own 100% record.

There were a few convincing wins around Europe on Thursday but Marseille’s defeat in Austria against Red Bull Salzburg could be considered something of a surprise perhaps? Then against Salzburg are an experienced European team.

Everton’s own experience, many would say, probably quite rightly, superior quality counted for nothing as the Toffees failed to secure the win they needed against Apollon Limassol when the visiting side – down to 10 men at the time – scored a late leveller at Goodison Park to leave the Premier League side winless after two.

Here’s a round-up of the Europa League results.
