Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has hit out at ‘weak’ Freddie Ljungberg after the Swede claimed he couldn’t stay at Arsenal after the club broke promises and let Henry leave.

Ljungberg, 30, joined West Ham for £3Million and despite saying he ‘felt it in his heart,’ Ljungberg also took a swipe at Arsenal.

He said: ‘Two years ago when I signed my last contract we talked a lot about the future and about bringing great players to the club. Despite building the new stadium we wanted to stay top in England and do well in Europe.’

Rockin’ Rob thinks it was wrong of Ljungberg and took the chance to slam the former Arsenal player: ‘If you play nine years at a club like Arsenal you can say some nice words,’ Van Persie told the News of the World.

‘If you’re coming up with excuses about Thierry’s departure and about promises from the club it’s a bit weak.

‘I was disappointed and I know a few others were as well.

‘He had a fantastic period, he was once the best player in England, so come on and say some nice things for this club, which is fantastic.’

It was said during Ljungberg’s time at Arsenal that the pair didn’t see eye to eye, albeit by Ashley ‘money, money, money’ Cole. could it be that something in Cole’s book wasn’t complete bol… You know what I want to say.
